The end of winter traditionally belongs to Oscar and Radio_Head ceremonies. If you’re reading this before March 13 then you already know that Leo finally got it but you can only guess who will win the most prestigious local musical prize. But if it’s all over and your frontrunner didn’t win, don’t be sad and enjoy the fact that there is so much good Slovak music around.
Do you remember our world in 2001? In Slovakia, you could feel the nascent prosperity in the air, electronic music conquered our city and the legendary Blackmarket vinyl store in Vienna was still around and popular with all Bratislava DJs. In this environment, a new venue known today as the Nu Spirit Bar was born in a cellar that used to be a warehouse for a car-parts store.
Welcome to the year of 2016. The previous one already wasn’t easy, rules that had been in place for decades were suddenly not working. It isn’t easy to cope with such changes and I am concerned that this year will be a year of a radical jump in demand for easy solutions.
Fall belongs to the celebration of Nu Spirit Club for the 6th year running. One of its guests on November 20 will be the godfather of house music, Marshal Jefferson. The elite of Slovak house music will be by his side all night and our birthday party will belong to you.
In November we will celebrate disco at its finest! Your highly recommended club will host noone else then the “King Of Nothing” alias DJ Kon, who is worldwide recognized as a king of disco edits. On July 12 1979 at the Comiskey Park in Chicago, during a break in a baseball match between the Chicago White Sox and the Detroit Tigers, a huge container full of disco music vinyls exploded. The organizers wanted to attract as many people as possible with these destructive fireworks, and also mark the end of a fashion wave. They succeded with the former, and failed with the latter.
